Obsidian (Lux #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

12578077I was a little skeptical at first, but this book blew my mind!  So many YA paranormal romances involve either vampires, werewolves, zombies, ect… but this one… aliens!  Bonus, they weren’t cheesy!! Katy and her mom just moved to a small town in West Virginia.  She’s a total book nerd (which I can totally appreciate and relate to) and she was less than thrilled to have moved there.  Then she met her incredibly hot neighbor, Daemon Black.  She was thought he could be really awesome…. until he opened his mouth.  She ends up both infuriated with him and falling for him at the same time.  Meanwhile, she befriends his twin sister, Dee and they become as close as can be.  Then, one night, Katy is attacked and Daemon freezes time and shows that he’s actually an alien and so is his sister.  They have to deal with other aliens who want to take their powers and kill them.  Plus, because he’s used his powers around her, she starts glowing a bit and draws the enemy aliens toward her.  So, of course, she’s stuck being around Daemon constantly.  The book is hilarious and exciting and I’m looking forward to the rest of the series!  5 Stars, hands down.

Wake by Lisa McMann

51jCsdoIIAL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_This book was actually pretty good!  Janie has a secret.  She can see other people’s dreams.  However, she can’t control it and it really makes her life complicated.  Then there’s Cabel, the love interest and also suspect of the story.  I do have to admit, he’s actually pretty awesome.  🙂  I love the relationship the two of them end up having, too.  I will say, however, that I’m only giving this 4 Stars.  It’s written in a diary type of format and the dates and times constantly breaking up the pieces get annoying.  Either way, aside from that, great story line!  I might actually read more of of this series!

Black Heart by Holly Black

hqdefaultWow! What an ending to the three book series of The Curse Workers!  I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.  Cassel is trying to be a good guy, but then he starts questioning who is good and who is the bad guys. Who is pulling the con and who is telling the truth.  Plus, he’s still madly in love with Lila, the daughter of a crime lord.  Even his friends get in deeper with him and plus there’s a lot of misdirection in the book as well.  I loved it.  Hands down, the best in the series.  I would love to know more of the adventures after the book as well, but I’m sure that’s up to the reader’s own imagination.  5 Stars.  Easy.  Definitely read this series.  It is a 5 star series all together. 🙂

Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices: Manga, #1) by Cassandra Clare

Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices: Manga, #1)Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a fantastic version of one of the books from my favorite series!! For this one, however, I want to explain my full five start rating. At first, I was going to give this only four stars due to some of the lines missing from the book. I was a little disappointed there. However, the art work and how it flowed more than made up for it! Personally, I was thrilled to see how the characters were depicted where just how I imagined them. Well, all except Magnus. I had the unfortunate problem of imagining him in Victorian clothes but as he looked in City of Bones. Oops! Still, it was a fabulous read and I’m looking forward to reading the next two. Seeing the books come to life in manga format is so fascinating!

Untold (The Lynburn Legacy, #2)Untold by Sarah Rees Brennan

With Sorry-in-the-Vale in serious danger and the help of her friends, Kami is determined to help fight Rob and his group of evil sorcerers weather Lillian wants her to or not.
This book was full of laughs, adventure, and romance and I loved every page of it! I can’t get enough of the humor and the world that Sarah Rees Brennan has created. I can’t wait to finish the series and see how it all ends. This series is a must read!

Odd Thomas (Odd Thomas, #1) by Dean Koontz

Just a side note, I can’t help but get a kick out of Elvis. 😉

Odd Thomas (Odd Thomas, #1)Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book has it all: romance, paranormal, adventure, mystery… I couldn’t get enough! I love the witty humor that comes from both Odd and Stormy and their banter between each other is fantastic. I also like how they describe certain characters. The details are fantastic, too. Not too much, not too little – just enough. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

Maggie Stiefvater is a master of cliff hangers! Holy cow. Gansey, Blue, Adam, Ronan, and Noah are still on the search for Glendower in Cabeswater and getting closer, Blue’s mom is missing and now there’s more than just Blue and her friends looking for her. New mysteries, new discoveries, and more adventure continue in this installment. All I can say is I CAN’T WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK!!!!! I’m waiting on pins and needles. If you haven’t read this series yet, you should! 🙂

The Dream Thieves (Raven Boys Quartet) by Maggie Stiefvater

By this point, I totally have a favorite Raven Boy.  Who’s your favorite?
The Dream Thieves (Raven Boys Quartet)The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow. Can I just say wow? Because wow. I thought the first book blew my mind, but this one? This one blew what was left of it.

The plot of this sequel just totally gripped me and as the book went on, it became more and more fascinating. There’s almost a science to the magic and I think that makes it feel all the more real.

Also, I absolutely love Noah. Seriously, his character is just… ah! Awesome. Don’t get me wrong, I like all the Raven boys, but I now have a favorite. 🙂

The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle #1) by Maggie Stiefvater

The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle, #1)The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“There are only two reasons a non-seer would see a spirit on St. Mark’s Eve,” Neeve said. “Either you’re his true love . . . or you killed him.”

Blue is the daughter of a psychic and is the only non-psychic in her family. Instead, she amplifies psychic powers. She also finds herself entangled with some boys from Aglionby (known as raven boys), an elite private school. She had always told herself that she wanted nothing to do with raven boys, until she met Gansey and his group of friends, Adam, Ronan, and Noah who are on a quest. Magic, mystery, adventure, and complicated love make this an incredible read.

This book was not what I expected at all, but I was surprised by the fully awesomeness of it!! I couldn’t get enough!!

Redeemed (House of Night, #12)Redeemed by P.C. Cast

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Zoey and her circle need to take down Neferet – once and for all – but how can you take down a crazed immortal bloated with power? Especially when it involves using old magic that Zoey has no idea how to use!
What a perfect ending to such a great series!! So many things happened in the final book that I didn’t expect. I caught myself tearing up a few times as well. All in all, a great read. This was a pulse pounding book from cover to cover. I can’t think of a better way this series could have ended, and I won’t lie… I had been worried after the ending of the last book. I’m sad that series has ended, but at the same time, the ending fits so well. So be sure to give this one a read and find out who survives.
